Collection area and presentation** Our book collection service is only available to people over 18 years of age with a collection address lying within the bounds of East or West Sussex. (if you are close to a Sussex border then contact us to see if we are able to make an exception). Books for collection should be located close to the property entrance on the day of collection and packed either in sturdy bags that can be lifted by the handles or in cardboard boxes or crates. Bags and boxes should be able to be lifted by one person for carriage to the collection vehicle. **2. Quantity and payment** We operate a minimum quantity for collection and pay for collected books as shown in following table. | Number of books | Free collection? | What we pay | |---|---|---| | Up to 24 | No | No payment | | 25 to 50 | Yes | £2.50 | | More than 50 | Yes | £2.50 plus 10p for each book over 50 *For example 270 books would be worth £2.50 for the first 50, plus 220 x 10p making a total payment of of £24.50.* | Payment is made either by cash on collection or by bank transfer after collection has been completed, usually on the same day (you can choose how you wish to receive payment when completing the collection request form). We take details for bank payments when we collect the books and require you to sign a receipt confirming the succesful collection. Overall condition** Books must be dry, clean, and free from dampness and mould and all pages must be present. Books with missing covers, torn pages, or detached spines cannot be accepted. Minor shelf wear, slight creases on softcovers, or gentle tanning of pages due to age are fine. For reusability reasons, we do not accept ex-library books. **4. Genres and formats we love** - Paperbacks and hardbacks - Fiction, non-fiction, biography, and history - Children’s books - Classic literature and poetry In fact we accept all books with the exception of trade, telephone or other directories and participatory books such as colouring books etc. that have been completed. **5. Refusal to collect** We reserve the right to refuse a collection request at any time be it for lack of storage capacity, operational issues or any other reason. We also reserve the right to refuse a collection books presented for collection do not meet either the expected quantity and or condition or they are not located and packed as described in paragraph '1.
